Hi Everyone,

I apologize if anyone received an email message from the youngstownfire.com forums. It appears that someone was able to send out a bulk message to various (possibly all) members of the forums. As much as developers try and fix holes in software, there will always be hackers and people with malicious intent finding new and exciting ways around the security.  If you received a message or email from ManninBlackk or any other forum member telling you that you might have a virus or some other lame excuse, please let an administrator know. You can always email me directly at gricker@youngstownfire.com or webmaster@youngstownfire.com.

As a result, I will be installing the latest security patches on the forum software in the next couple of nights. The forums may be offline briefly during this process.

I may not be able to stop every malicious person or group from getting into this site but I can sure try and keep most out.

Again I apologize for any issues that resulted.

If it helps, I did not receive such a message, or if I did, my Gmail spam filter caught it.

Hello to all. I E-Mailed the webmaster, but I would advise ALL
here who received this message both here and in your E-Mails
to DELETE WITHOUT OPENING those messages and to update
and RUN your virus software on your computers!

Every year, usually at the beginning of each year, hackers and
spammers will unleash the "latest and greatest" iterations of
their work in hopes of making a mess. This is just an example.

Twig is absolutely right!

If you received any messages about viruses from this forum, please delete them. Do not click on the link in the message as it is not legit.

Hi Everyone,

I did the version upgrade and security patch on the forums this evening. It actually only took 5 minutes! Amazing! If you notice anything kinda out of the ordinary besides Box2565 and Fire Medic 102 (they are always like that and no amount of help with fix that), please let me know.

Thanks!

Greg, It seems that I have been on these forums since almost when you started them. This is the first "real" hiccup that I know of. I commend the site for its content and its service.

No matter what you say, I know you still love me & steve...... Grin
