2 people, a 63 year old woman and her 2 week old grandchild, perished in a trailer fire around 4 AM today in Portage County's Ravenna Township The trailer was engulfed in fire when the first fire crews arrived on scene shortly after the call was received. Equipment and manpower from 8 Portage County departments responded to the call. Firefighting efforts were hampered by the winter storm overnight, according to Cleveland radio and TV station reports. Portage County SO deputies and officials from the Ohio Fire Marshals office joined Ravenna Twp. FD. members on the scene to determine a cause.

Very sad, horrific for the families involved. I bet finding hydrants in that mess wasn't easy. I know a lot of our hydrants are mostly if not totally covered. Everybody needs to remember to dig out their hydrants, it could save you or your neighbors life.
