Walter
Motor Truck Co
(1909 - 1982 - Queens & Vorheeville, NY): My dad was a VP at Walter from the mid 70's until they went belly up in
the early 80's. I remember growing up in Guilderland NY and spending Saturdays
with my dad at the plant in Voorheesville. (i was probably 7 to 12 years old
during this period) It was cool when they took the trucks over to the
test field
to test the pump nozzles/turrets.

Wilcox Trux (H.E. Wilcox Motor Co)
(1906 - 1926 - Minneapolis, MN): Wilcox Trux History By Ronald Pearson
Will, C.H. Motor Co (1926 - 1930 - Minneapolis, MN): Regarding C.H.Will Motors, it was originally the H.E. Wilcox Motor Car Company also doing business as Wilcox Trux. Will bought out Wilcox in 1926. It was the Waterous Fire Engine Company that used the Wilcox Trux chassis for a period of time for their standard name bearing-build before switching to the Sanford chassis after Wilcox sold out to Will. Ron Pearson
Wilson Fire Apparatus Inc
(1981 - 2000 - Van Buren, AR): Wilson was the Howe dealer in AR from
the 60s until their demise, he also did repair and refurb work and
built skid units. After Howe went under he began building fire
apparatus, he built on commercial chassis only - and basically "one
off" Most sold in Arkansas , Oklahoma and Texas, I heard one of the
last he built , a Freightliner FL70 ,went to New York state. They
were a basic truck , along the lines of Boardman. The last I heard
he was in the trucking business. One side note, Mr. Wilson claimed
to be the innovator of the top mt pump panel. Said he gave the idea
to the engineers at Howe. Its a shame Howe went out of business,
there are still many Howes , Mr. Wilson sold in AR still in front
line service.
