Event Log

Sun, 07.11.2004 @ 09:15:21... Thanks to everyone who checked out this page during my 24 on. It was a very slow day firewise, Engine 2 ended up going on 1 dumpster fire the entire shift. Maybe I'll fare better on my next ride along!

Sun, 07.11.2004 @ 05:21:08... I managed to get a few hours of sleep. So far we've only caught the dumpster fire last night. At least we got to go somewhere even if it was just up the street.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 22:22:34... Dinner was pretty good - cheeseburgers in paradise. :)

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 21:44:08... Tonight I'm riding along with Dave, Shawn and Michelle. Let's forget about how I forgot to close the door when I got in (no damage :) and couldn't find the door latch to get out. We need another box, that was just the trial run :)

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 21:41:52... We went on our first run of the evening at 9:07, E2 went to a dumpster fire at 2800 Market St. Knocked down, cleaned up, and went home.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 20:38:05... 8:40 and still no action. Maybe I should change the name to the 24 hour sit along :)

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 17:24:52... It's almost dinner time. Still no runs. Hopefully the night proves to be more exciting.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 14:43:49... Yesterday E2 A-Turn responded on 4 runs. 2 were structure fire responses (which means 7 trucks are sent), 1 was a working fire in a vacant residential, the fourth was a wires down from an MVA call.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 14:41:43... 14:40 and all is quiet in Youngstown. I could go for another chili dog :) In case your wondering, firefighters each kick in money for their daily meals, lunch and dinner. Damage for food today was $7.00.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 12:45:56... I posted some pictures in the YFD in Action gallery. They are of all of the apparatus on the apron. Click on the gallery link under the youngstownfire.com page banner! Enjoy!

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 12:37:42... Made it through lunch without incident. On the menu, chili dogs. Remember your cooking for 7 guys (or in this case 8), there are 3 on the engine, 3 on the ladder and a Battalion Chief.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 11:22:02... Here is a little history about YFD Station 2. Sta 2 was built in 1992. It is the second newest station in the city. It houses a Battalion Chief, Engine and Ladder Co.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 11:16:53... I took some photos of all of Sta.2's trucks on the apron. Look for those to be added (providing they turned out good).

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 11:15:02... So far all is quiet. This station has had its cleaning. The north side turned out to be a trash fire.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 10:47:51... At 1030hrs, Chris Weaver took off his Christmas hat :)

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 09:20:16... Right now the station is getting a good cleaning. I'm set in the back driver side jump seat. The north side has already gone on a possible structure fire. Hopefully we'll go today somewhere.

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 09:18:07... Good Morning to everyone viewing this and thanks for your interest!

Sat, 06.11.2004 @ 07:16:36... T-Minus 45 minutes

Thu, 04.11.2004 @ 16:00:14... phone test

What is a blog?

On the Internet, a blog (short for weblog) is a personal journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or reflect the purpose of the Web site that hosts the blog. Topics sometimes include brief philosophical musings, commentary on Internet and other social issues. The essential characteristics of the blog are its journal form, typically a new entry each day, and its informal style. The author of a blog is often referred to as a blogger.

When will the blog be active?

Begin around 8am on Saturday, November 5th, the ride along blog will become active. I'll be riding with the crew of Engine 2 B-Turn.

When will the blog end?

The blog will be updated through 8am Sunday, November 6th when B-Turn's shift ends.

How will you update your blog?

This blog is actually a script that will check an email address periodically. I'll be sending emails periodically to the script which will display them on this page when you visit. I have capabilities to email via my cell phone if we are out on an incident.

Can I have some information about the station before hand?

No :) If I gave all the information out before hand, what would I blog periodically if we don't get any runs :) I will tell you that the general station information for Station 2 can be found in the current station section here at youngstownfire.com.
